Mia Wasikowska is coughing, softly at first, then gradually it becomes rasping, hacking throat-burner as her embattled heroine, Edith Cushing, stumbles out of the stifling confines of Allerdale hall into a drift of fake snow. It flurries around her as the coughing gets harsher, until finally, battered by the elements, she retreats into the main hall, where the walls are belching up blood-red clay from the mines below. “It’s pretty physical. The continuity of the cough is tough – is there too much coughing? They’re blowing all that shit around and you end up inhaling it, which helps. but it’s kind of a pain in the ass. No more sick characters after this. Only healthy, angry people”, says Wasikowska.

A sensetive soul who can see the presence of the many spirits that roam Allerdale Hall, Edith is far from being the conventional scream queen.

“She’s a very intelligent and strong character, but one who finds it hard to accept any help at the beginning of the movie”, says Del Toro. “She came from Edith Wharton. (her surname, of course, came from Hammer horror legend, Peter Cushing) I was thinking about a girl, at the right moment when the suffragists are succeeding, who still has to fight the notion of what a young woman needs to be”, he continues.

Swept off her feet by Hiddleston’s dashing, Byronic Sharpe (“Women also have their bad boy phase,” laughs Mia). It’s not long before Edith realises Crimson Peak may be the last place she ever sees. And it might not be the ghosts that get her.

“For Edith, it’s about learning to fear the living, not the dead”, says Mia.

We’re celebrating this amazing day, and can’t believe its already been seven years.. Here to the next seven years hopefully for running this web source.

August 11th, 2015 Site Updates

IMPORTANT! Mia Wasikowska Source has a new URL! MWASIKOWSKA.COM

The website was previously being accessed by the old url, miawasikowska.org, but since now, we are no longer being located there and our new url is miawasikowska.org! Please help us spread the word and update your links if you have us linked anywhere.

We would like to let you know the reason of this change. Our previous host, Fan Sites Network has closed its doors so we have now moved to Flaunt Network. This unfortunate news has really made all the hostees very sad, as it has been our online home for years… But now we are trying to change things on our site like updating page urls, etc which is pretty hard and takes time. So please help us by bookmarking our new url and being patient if you notice any errors. Follow us on Twitter for updates. Thanks!

I have added videos dedicated to Crimson Peak like interviews, featurette, short scenes, trailers and San Diego Comic-Con 2015 clips. The videos have been added to the video archive in high quality, so you can watch without any problems. Here’s an all new, official, high quality and to me the best poster yet appeared for Crimson Peak! Where with Mia Wasikowska, we can see her co-stars: Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston! Reminding you that the upcoming movie releases October 16, 2015 and we’re really excited about. In case you missed it, Mia’s role in Crimson Peak is Edith Cushing, who is in love with Tom Hiddleston‘s character, Sir Thomas Sharpe.

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.

Why Director Sophie Barthes Felt Compelled to Bring ‘Madame Bovary’ to the Big Screen For a Modern Audience

Barthes breathes new life into Gustave Flaubert’s classic tale of desire. Gustave Flaubert’s classic novel Madame Bovary is no stranger to the big screen, as the 1865 book (impressively enough, it was Flaubert’s debut novel) has been translated to film at least seven times over the decades, including a Jean Renoir-directed version from 1934 and a breathless, Isabelle Huppert-starring 1991 take from Claude Chabrol. But that didn’t stop filmmaker Sophie Barthes from wanting to make it her own.

For her version, Barthes abstained from trying to turn the story of a brutally unsatisfied woman — Madame Bovary herself — into an overly modern tale about shame and the consumption of material goods, instead relying on the strength of Flaubert’s original story. The result is a mostly faithful take on the novel, which sees Mia Wasikowska memorably taking up the role of Emma Bovary, a once-pious young woman in provincial France who grows weary of her life as the wife of doctor, ultimately seeking out more (and more) in the form of various lovers and a growing appetite for material goods (particularly sumptuous gowns, lovingly brought to the screen by costume designers Christian Gasc and Valerie Ranchoux).
